William Huntoon

William “Bill”Lewis Huntoon, a Veteran of the Vietnam War in the 569th Gen. SPT Company, died in his home on March 26th 2020, surrounded by his family, 19 days short of his 72nd birthday. Bill was born and raised in Clare MI. where he met his wife and dancing partner of 53 years, Geraldine (Doherty) Huntoon. In 1972 they moved to Ashley MI and raised their four beautiful children; Michelle (Ryan) Fitzpatrick of Middleton MI, Christina (Denny) Lambert of Ashley MI, Chad (Tami) Huntoon of Perrinton MI, and Brad (Ericka) Huntoon of Maple Rapids MI. Bill is survived by his wife, four children, 14 Grandchildren; Saterra (Jon) Finch, Bret Lambert (Emma Mockbridge), Jessica (Jeff) Miller, DJ Lambert (Leslie Carter), Brooke Huntoon, Megan Fitzpatrick, Kiley Huntoon, Logen Huntoon, Jordan Huntoon, Grace Fitzpatrick, Jake Fitzpatrick, Kaiden Keiffer, Miranda Huntoon and Saige Keiffer, six great-grandchildren; Matthew, Able, and Leighton Finch, Adalynne Lambert, Hudson Miller, and Trystan Catlin, sisters; Carol (Frank) Handy of Farwell MI, Bonnie Crawford (Jack Cotter) of Clare MI, Sinda Lynch of Oil City MI, Shelia (Mark) Martin of Bay City MI. , his brother, George Keller, his sisters-in-law, Terri Huntoon of Clare MI, Sue Huntoon of Farwell MI, his brothers-in-law, Bill McNerney and Ora Koch. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (Delbert) Keller of Coleman MI, his father, Leslie Huntoon of Ithaca MI., brothers, Kenneth Huntoon, Fredrick Huntoon, sister, Brenda Huntoon, sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Doherty) McNerney Marylou Shilling, Shirley Adams, Margret Eberhart, June Frances Koch, and Dorothy Lee Doherty, and brothers-in-law, Pat Crawford, Gary Lynch, Ronald Doherty, and John Joseph Doherty. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, working on his computer, taking strolls around town and bathing in the sun. Bill had a “one of a kind personality”, he was loved by everyone who he crossed paths with. Bill was a jokester unlike any others, he enjoyed playing pranks and telling jokes to his children, and later in life his grandchildren. Bills contagious laugh and warm smile warmed the hearts of so many special people, whom he meant the world too. Bill will be greatly missed by everyone whose heart he had touched. A Private Funeral Service will be celebrated with his family at Our Lady of Hope Church in Clare. Friends are invited to meet with his family at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Monday, Mar. 30, from 2 to 8 PM. In the midst of the current Coronid 19 Crisis, it is asked that visitors be respectful of the social distancing recommendations. The Huntoon family covet your support whether in person or by message through electronic media, or over the phone. If you are not feeling well or are at risk, please remain at home. The visiting will be limited to not more than 50 persons at any time. Memorials may be directed toward Healing Veterans with PTSD.
