Rose Mary Allen

Rose Mary (Putnam) Allen, age 85 of Macomb Co., formerly of Clare, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Prestige Commons Assisted Living Facility in Chesterfield Township. On July 14, 1934, Rose was born the fourth of six children to Fred and Leona (Davis) Putnam in Traverse City, MI. She was united in marriage to Albert J. Allen on July 22, 1950 and the couple enjoyed nearly fifty-five years of marriage together until Albert’s passing in May of 2005. Everyone that knew Rose well knew that she was a family oriented person. She loved her role as a home maker tending to her crew of husband Albert, sons Steven and David, and her grandchildren Mary and Teresa later in life. She loved to bake cakes, and in her younger years, she loved sewing wedding dresses. Her favorite passion of all was traveling with her family, having camped and canoed nearly all of the lower forty-eight states together. Rose is survived by her granddaughter Mary Allen of Fair Haven, MI., her three great-grandchildren Jacob (Mary) Wale of WY., Kyle Wale of Fair Haven, and Tanner Wale of Clare, and her two great-great-grandchildren Freya and Odin Wale of WY. Rose is also survived by her sisters Clarabelle Kirschner of Alpena and Barbara Windsor of GA., her previous grandson-in-law Greg Wale of Clare, and several nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Albert Allen, her sons Steven and David Allen, her parents Fred and Leona Putnam, her grand-daughter Teresa Allen, her siblings Genevieve King, Robert Putnam, and William Putnam, and her daughter-in-law Barbara Allen. A funeral service in honor of Rose will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Fall officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Following the service a luncheon will take place at the Clare Moose Lodge. Burial will take place in Wise Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in honor of Rose may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
