David G. Bronder Sr.

David George Bronder Sr. was born to Clarence and Elsie Bronder July 30, 1938 in Detroit, MI. He left this earth on June 6, 2015 in Clare, MI. He was a member of the Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Anne (Shortal) Bronder; two daughters, Diane Marie (Dennis) Bedard, Suzanne Marie (Terry) Hanna; and one son, David G. (Kelly) Bronder Jr; two grandsons Stephen M. Collins and David J. Collins. He is also survived by his brother Thomas (Betty) Bronder (Findlay, Ohio), as well as many loving cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. A graduate of Detroit Catholic High School, David earned a BS in Business Administration at Wayne State University. At college, he became a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a member of U. S. Army Reserves, and was honorably discharged. He began his career in sales and moved into job training with the City of Detroit and the U.S. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. He then became a serial entrepreneur, with several companies started over his lifetime. He was known as “Big Dave,” for his strong handshake and his big heart. Some of his companies included Robert Johnson & Associates (training programs), Thermoplastics, Inc. (plastics vacuum forming manufacturer), Brahma (pickup truck bedliner and truck topper/cap manufacturing), The Bronder Company (outside sales and import/export consulting), Metro Bumper, Inc. (wholesale and retail light truck accessories), and Discount Truck Accessories (light truck and auto aftermarket retailer). He retired from business in 2010 and moved to the family’s Clare home. He beat cancer in 2013 and fought through several health setbacks in the last couple of years. Through it all, he worked to get better and to provide for his family. He held two U.S. patents and was somewhat “famous” in the business world for his 6’ x 8’ pizza parties and traveling the U.S. to show how plastic truck tops could be beaten with a baseball bat and bounce back. David loved to golf and to travel, visiting Europe, the Carribean and the South Pacific several times. He golfed several famous courses, including Pebble Beach. He was a certified PADI diver. He was a creative problem solver who took pride in making the world a better place through relationships. He was a great joke teller, always able to break the ice with a little laughter. He loved to teach and to learn. He kept friends forever and will be sorely missed on this earth. Everywhere he worked, David Bronder worked to help people. David loved: his family, his work, people, problems, solutions and mostly to laugh. He saw the best in people. He made the world better, and he will be missed.
