Barbara Terwilliger

Barbara Jean (Brown) Terwilliger, age 80 of Farwell, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. On December 31, 1940, Barb was born one of six children to Matthew and Bertha (Legrow) Brown at their family home outside of Farwell in Gilmore Township. She was united in marriage to Judd Terwilliger on May 12, 1962 at the Farwell United Methodist Church and together the pair shared fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage. Barb was a graduate of the Farwell High School Class of 1960. Immediately after high school, Barb attended and graduated from the Murphy School of Cosmetology, but never truly pursued that career as her love of tending to her home and her growing family followed shortly after. For a brief time in her working years Barb enjoyed the success of starting and running her own house cleaning service. Those that knew Barb well knew that she loved taking trips to the casino, going on cruises, playing cards and board games with family and friends, and she never shied away from a good word search. When she wasn’t doing any of the aforementioned things, Barb was probably either watching her soaps (either General Hospital or All My Children) or baking one of her infamous lasagnas for the family. Barb is survived by her husband Judd Terwilliger of Farwell and her four children Kelly Wright of Farwell, Michelle (Zach) Mercer of Rose City, Renee Brana of Clearwater, FL., and Jason Terwilliger of Farwell. Other survivors include her grandchildren Amanda, Justin, Tashana, Brianna, Kaylee, Joshua, and Aubrey, her great-grandchildren Nate, Tyler, Jordan, and Harper, and her sister Stella Powell of Owosso. Barb was preceded in death by her parents Matthew and Bertha Brown, her infant daughter Cheryl, her grandson Ryan, and her siblings Larry Brown, Maxine Ritz, George Brown, and Matthew Brown, Jr. A private funeral in honor of Barb will take place on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Farwell Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Minister Kevin Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Surrey Township Cemetery. Friends may visit the Terwilliger at the funeral home on Thursday the 4th from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M. Current Covid-19 guidelines will be observed. Memorial contributions in honor of Barb may be directed to her family for them to decide on a use at a later date.
