Ricky Lee Benchley Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ricky “Rick” Benchley, 59, a business owner and life-long resident of Clare, Michigan passed away Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. He was born March 12, 1962 in Clare to Bernard & Jean (Reger) Benchley. Rick was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, significant other, and friend to so many. Rick was a 1980 graduate of Clare High School before becoming a Certified Master Mechanic and Refrigeration Specialist. He dedicated over 35 years of service at The Delfield Company of Mt. Pleasant. Rick was the proud owner of R & A Sales in Clare for over 35 years, which he built from the ground up. He was devoted to his family, especially his three daughters. He dedicated his life to ensuring they were strong, independent, educated, and hard-working individuals in which he supported them in everything they pursued. He enjoyed belting out random tunes, camping and boating, traveling, going to demolition derbies and figure eight races, restoring vehicles, taking care of his animals on his farm, and taking on new and unique projects. Rick loved to attend family reunions and local church services with his father and was a devoted Christian. You would find him around town snow plowing, pulling people out of ditches, and saving the day if you locked your keys in the car. He was always smiling, caring, acting goofy and joking with his co-workers, family, and friends. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His wonderful life will forever be cherished by his mother, Jean Benchley; daughters, Sara, Heather (Michael) & Corissa (Steve) Benchley; grandchild, Aiden Benchley; brothers Mark (Kris), Jerry (Karen), Joe (Kathy) Benchley; significant other Lori Riedel (Ray, Tiffany (Mitch), Matt, Michael (Sam), Rossi, Lillie & Alisha) and family; many nieces, nephews, cousins, countless family members, friends, and co-workers. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Benchley. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, loved beyond words and missed beyond measure by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A visitation service will be held at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on December 2nd, 2021, from 5 - 8pm. A graveside service will be held at the Warren Township Cemetery in Coleman on December 3rd, 2021 at 11am. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at a later date. Social distancing and masks will be required for all attendees. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the family to assist with funeral and medical expenses at 8375 S.
