Marguerite M. Sarkozi

April 3, 1930 - April 2, 2022

Marguerite M. Sarkozi, age 91 of St. Johns, formerly of Clare, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at her home in St. Johns, just one day shy of her 92nd birthday. Marguerite was born on April 3, 1930 to loving parents Donald and Ellen (Smith) Brown at their family home in Clare County’s Garfield Township. During her grade school years Marguerite attended the Lake school before moving over to and graduating from Barryton High School in 1948. Shortly after graduating, Marguerite was united in marriage to Joseph Sarkozi on July 3, 1948 in Clare and together the pair enjoyed 63 ½ years of marriage before Joe’s passing in February of 2012. Marguerite cherished her time spent tending to her home and family, especially the time she was able to share with her parents in their later years. She loved traveling the country with Joe in her younger years, and her homemade cinnamon bread and chicken noodles were second to none. However, those that knew Marguerite well, knew that the thing she cherished most was her time with her treasured siblings, nieces, and nephews. Marguerite is survived by her brother Gordon “Dale” (Patricia Emery) Brown, sister-in-law Luella (Kinney) Brown, and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Sarkozi, her parents Donald and Ellen Brown, and her siblings Howard (Pauline Argue) Brown, Madeline (Lloyd) Hunt, Ford (Frances Phelps) Brown, Helen (Murl) Ranshaw, Donald Brown, and five-year-old sister Ellen Brown. A funeral service in honor of Marguerite will take place on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Elder Richard Hunt officiating. Friends may visit with Marguerite’s family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. to the time of service at 12:00 P.M. Graveside services will follow in the North Brinton Cemetery of Lake. Memorial contributions in honor of Marguerite may be directed to the Elara Caring Hospice. Her family would like to give a special thanks to the Voisinet family for their tender care and support for Marguerite over her last several years.
