James A. Wood, age 78 of Farwell, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Crestwood Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. James was born the son of William “Sidney” and Gertrude (Olger) Wood on September 19, 1943 in Weidman. James had worked in the Oil Industry his entire working career. He had started as a Swamper Laborer cleaning up oil spills and ended up 25 years later retiring as a Oil Gauger; he had worked for Getty Oil Company as well as Total Refinery and Chevron. James’ other passion in life was being a farmer. James is survived by his children, Elaine (Charles) Pruden of Harrison and Allen Wood of Farwell; brothers John (Mindy) Wood and Jack (Jann) Wood both of Farwell; 2 grandchildren Joe (Heather) Pruden of Hastings and Denali (Christopher) Burkart of Stafford, Virginia; 5 great grandchildren Kathryn Burkart, Jeffery Pruden, Raymond Burkart, Grace Pruden and Edgar Pruden. James was predeceased by his parents and siblings Gerald Wood and Jean Lampman. Visitation and services will be held at the Farwell Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Saturday, July 23, 2022. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 P.M. with services led by Pastor G. Thomas Vaughn to start at 2 P.M. Burial will follow in the Gilmore Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
