Eunice M. Isaac

December 30, 1923 - December 17, 2020

Eunice Isaac was born on Dec. 30, 1923 in Reed City Michigan to John and Ruth (King) Hoekwater. Three younger brothers followed, Kenneth, Gerald and Harold. She attended school in Reed City graduating from Reed City High School. Following graduation, she worked at various restaurants and at a defense plant during WWII, manufacturing parachutes for bombs. She became interested in music after the war, eventually becoming a teacher of guitar and accordion. Through her lessons and teaching, she met a young man by the name of Frank Isaac. They were united in marriage in Big Rapids, Michigan on Aug. 24, 1946. They taught music together on a circuit of small towns in western central Michigan. In January of 1948, she gave birth to their first child, a son name Frank Eric Isaac. Three more children followed, David Robert in Sept. of 1949, Allen John in Oct. of 1950, and Rita Marie in Oct 1952. Shortly after the last birth, they moved near Loomis, Michigan when Frank Sr. was hired by the Dow Chemical Company of Midland. Eunice took up teaching music lessons again in the later 1950’s in a room converted into a studio with husband Frank also teaching in the evenings. She would continue teaching into her eighties, giving her over 60 years in that endeavor. She was very active in the Loomis Missionary Church where she was a very beloved fixture. She became a Cub Scout leader and a 4-H leader, staying deeply involved in the lives of her children. A better mother there could not have been. Eunice was preceded in death by her first-born, Frankie, in January of 1973 and husband Frank in May 1988. She is survived by sons: David (wife Julie), their three sons - Kile Anthony(wife(s) Kathy & Laurie -Kaleb and Mackenzie), Eric David (wife Angela - Abigail and Chloe), and Evan John (wife Kellly - Johnathon); Allen (wife Jan), their 3 children – Jennifer (husband Wayne Wahr – Zoe, Jake, and Grace), Jimmy (wife Michelle – Nicolina, Santino, and Valentina), and Jeremy (wife Kristynn – Omega and Orion); and daughter Rita (husband (div) John Tice and their daughter Tracy ( who spent a lot of time with Grandma and Grampa and was very much loved. Eunice also leaves behind her brother Ken (wife Dorothy, though many great years were spent with first Wife Marge) and all of their children who grew up with Isaac kids. Sister-in law Joanne Hoekwater (wife of Gerald) and their two sons Jay and Jon. Brother Harold and his Wife Janice have passed and leave three boys, Ron, Rick, and Chris. She will be missed by a myriad of friends and neighbors who think and thought the world of her. Many have preceded and their children and grandchildren will sorely miss Mrs. Isaac. In a few cases the mold is truly broken when a person is created. Mrs. Eunice Isaac was very much one of those special cases. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 4:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Services will be held privately on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 with burial to take place in the Wise Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the New Hope Fellowship Missionary Church in Loomis. On-line condolences may be left at www.stephenson-wyman.com
