Donna Mae Scott, 92, was ushered into God’s presence on Thursday, October 25, 2018. She was born to David E. Wiggins and Leah M. Elliott, on July 20, 1926. Donna graduated from Farwell High School in 1943. She married Delmer W. Scott on February 10, 1945. Two children were brought to this union—daughter, Sharon and son, Stewart. After 71 years of marriage, he predeceased her on August 29, 2016. She missed him greatly and the family imagines they are now rejoicing at being reunited once again. Donna was very active in local government serving Garfield Township in Clare County, Michigan. She served as township clerk from 1959 to 1977 and then as township supervisor and assessor until 1988. She also was active in the Michigan Township Association being elected to their Board of Directors in 1964, eventually becoming Secretary and moving through the chairs to the office of President in 1974. She continued to serve on the Board and was an honorary life member. She served on the State Board of Canvassers and served on numerous Governor-appointed committees regarding various government issues. She also wrote several government grant proposals, resulting in the funding of the Garfield Township Fire Station. For many years Donna served her Lord and Savior at Lake Baptist Church, Lake, Michigan, teaching Sunday School and working primarily with the children and young people. She later became a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Farwell, Michigan. She truly loved her Lord and was a mighty prayer warrior. Donna wore many hats – she was a loving wife and mother, a loyal and caring friend, always willing to help anyone, a confidant, a mentor, an advisor, and we can’t forget her love of being a grandmother and great grandmother. She just plain loved people. The list could go on and on. She and Delmer enjoyed going to flea markets, the Amish Sale, tractor and steam engine shows, and traveling to enjoy the beauty of God’s great creation. Donna is survived by her children: daughter, Sharon (Craig) McClain of Midland, and son, Stewart (Katharine “Kitty”) Scott of Macomb. Six grandchildren: Amy (Jason) Green of Midland; Pamela McClain and David McClain, both of Cincinnati; Rachel Scott and Sarah (Travis) Crooks all of Macomb; and Joshua Scott of New York City.
