Carolyn L. Neal Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Carolyn Lee Neal, age 76 of Farwell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at MidMichigan Medical Center of Midland with her family by her side. On May 1, 1942, Carolyn was born the daughter of Bertram and Veretta (Sasman) Nelson in Green Bay, WI. She was united in marriage to Jimmie Neal on September 30, 1967 in Lansing, and together they shared fifty-one years of marriage until Jimmie’s passing in November of 2018. Carolyn was a proud member of the United States Navy, having served as a nurse during the Vietnam Era. She continued her nursing career after her military service. Upon their retirement in 2001, Carolyn and Jimmie moved from their home in Holt, MI. to their retirement home at White Birch Lakes in Farwell, MI. Carolyn was a faithful member of the Living Hope Lutheran Church, a proud Cub Scout Den Mother and nurse at the Northwoods Scout Camp. Carolyn’s passions included the outdoors, gardening, researching her family genealogy, sewing, crafting and especially quilting. She will be dearly missed by her family. Carolyn is survived by her sons Timothy (Karen) Neal of Hartwell, GA. and Lieutenant Colonel Patrick (Michelle) Neal of Hamilton, OH. Also surviving are Carolyn’s cherished grandchildren Alexis, Hunter, Maverick, Ashley (Andrew), great-grandson Hayden, sister-in-law Judi (Richard) Cox of Mesa, AZ., several nieces and nephews and dear friends Marty and Christina. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie, parents Bertram and Veretta Nelson, sister Linda Nelson and grandson Nicholas Mayes. A memorial service in Carolyn’s honor will take place at the Living Hope Lutheran Church of Farwell on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 12 noon. Internment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery of Battle Creek, MI. Memorial contributions in honor of Carolyn may be directed to the Living Hope Lutheran Church.
