Sylvia A. Boulis

Sylvia Ann Boulis, age 73 of Farwell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the MyMichigan Medical Center of Midland with her family by her side. On January 14, 1953, Sylvia was born the daughter of Carl and Angeline (Bauer) Martin in Clare, Michigan. Sylvia was a lifelong resident of the Central Michigan area, and she was a member of the Beal City High School Class of 1971. Shortly after graduating, Sylvia was united in marriage to Howard L. Boulis on November 5, 1971 in Clare and they remained alongside one another for the next forty-six years until the time of Howard’s passing in August of 2018. Sylvia wore many hats during her working years, serving first and foremost as a loving mother and homemaker and an assembler for Evart/Ventra Products for twenty-seven years before retiring in 2020. She and Howard also ran the Boulis Adult Foster Care together for many years. Sylvia was an active member of the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church of Clare, and in her downtime, she enjoyed baking, sewing, and relaxing at home. However, those that knew Sylvia best knew that her most cherished times were spent enjoying her grandchildren. Sylvia is survived by her three sons Robert Boulis of Evart, Dave Boulis of Clare, and Brian Boulis of North Chicago, IL., her nine grandchildren, her 2 great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Ruth Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard Boulis, her parents Carl and Angeline Martin, her grandson Nicholas Boulis, and her siblings Betty Russell, Joan Blankenship, Janet Flynn, Russell Martin, Patricia Sweet, Judy Wolfgang, and her infant brother Thomas Martin. A funeral mass in honor of Sylvia will take place on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church of Clare led by Monsignor Francis Koper. Friends may visit the Boulis family at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Sunday, March 1st from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a rosary service being led at 7:30 P.M. Sylvia’s final place of rest will be in the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery of Clare, alongside her husband Howard.
