Sandra Ann Hicks

Sandra Ann Hicks, age 64 of Clare, passed away at Munson Healthcare in Traverse City on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Sandra was born the daughter of Eugene and Donna (Donathan) Abramczyk on November 19, 1955 in Wyandotte. She was united in marriage to Steve F. Hicks on May 5, 1995. Sandra had moved to Clare from Trenton in 1990. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially planning the family’s annual cabin camp with her sister-in-law, Linda. It brought her so much joy to see all the fun her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews had every year. Sandy also loved to cook for her family. According to her daughters and granddaughter, nobody made a better pot of spaghetti, and they would fight for the leftovers. Thanksgiving was Sandy’s favorite holiday. She would start her meal planning and writing her shopping list months in advance. Often, to the annoyance of her daughters, she would text them every time she bought something, even if it was just a can of corn. The texts will be greatly missed and Thanksgiving will never be the same. Sandra is survived by her husband, Steve; daughters, Sarah (Bob) Chinavare of Sanford and Jaime Peska of Lake Isabella; her parents, Eugene and Donna Abramczyk of Fife Lake; grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Haley, Grace, Kathryn and Noah; siblings, Gene (Barb) Abramczyk of Fife Lake, Kathy (Dave) Walker of Onondaga, Tim (Linda) Abramczyk of Fife Lake, Tom (Lori) Abramczyk of Paris, TN., and Doug (Lisa) Abramczyk of Kalkaska; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her son Jeremy Caldwell and her grandparents Alice and Alva Donathan and Genevieve and Walenty Abramczyk. Due to Covid-19 gathering restrictions, services for Sandra will be held privately at the Our Lady of Hope Parish – St. Cecilia Site. Memorial contributions may be made to her family or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
