Robert B. Maynard

Robert B. Maynard, age 59 of Farwell, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 12, 2021 with his family by his side. On October 15, 1962, Rob was born one of three children to Roger and Ellen (Fancon) Maynard in Fort Knox, Kentucky during his father Roger’s last few months of his military post. Rob was a lifelong resident of the Central Michigan Area, and a graduate of the Coleman High School Class of 1980. He was united in marriage to Karen Blodgett on August 26, 2017 in Clare, MI, and she survives him. Throughout his thirty-plus years of his working career, Rob learned nearly every detail of the construction trade as he worked not only as a local contractor, but also in building material sales for many local dealers. Despite his towering stature, most that got to know Rob well knew that he was truly a gentle giant. In his younger years, he was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with family and playing monopoly with his kids. His recent passions included watching his birds and squirrels, tending his rose gardens, watching Westerns, playing card games with Karen and friends, and most of all, playing with his grandchildren. Rob is survived by his wife Karen of Farwell, his mother Ellen Maynard of Coleman, and his children Amy (Josh) Maynard of Coleman, Kim (Bryan) Main of Hastings, MI., Jason (Samantha) DeGeer of Lake, Joey DeGeer of Lake, Stephanie (Scott) Szymanski of Shepherd, and Ryan (Christopher) Thatcher of Barryton. Other survivors include his grandchildren Kagen, Brendan, Alyssa, Brennen, Alex, Kati, Adam (Shawna), Dameon (Michelle), Devin, Trinity, Mariah, Annessa, Lincoln, and Jacob, his great-grandchildren Felix, Eddie, and soon to arrive baby DJ, his siblings Nancy (Leon) Robison of Coleman and Ann (Mike) Mahaffy of Sugar Springs, Brother in Law Richard (Debbie) Blodgett of Traverse City, his nieces and nephews Brianna and Morgan Townsend, Steve and Sam Robison, Samantha (Casey) Drow, and Amanda (John) Jackson. Rob was preceded in death by his father Roger Maynard and his first wife and mother of his daughters Terri Ann Rease. A funeral service in honor of Rob will take place on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Farwell Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Isabella County’s North Brinton Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Maynard family on Tuesday, December 14th at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in honor of Rob may be directed to the Coleman Community Schools Board Scholars for a scholarship to be awarded in Rob’s name.
