Raymond Francis Brusseau

Raymond Francis Brusseau, age 78, of Five Lakes, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center of Saginaw. On January 10, 1940, Ray was born the son of Leon and Marian (Schmidt) Brusseau in Detroit, MI. Ray was a graduate of Wayne State University and a member of the U.S. Air Force. During his working years, Ray had served as a computer programmer for General Motors for over twenty years before taking a job with the Electronic Data Systems of Detroit. He was united in marriage to Irina Chulkova in Warren, MI. in 2000. Shortly after his retirement in 2002, Ray and Irina moved from Royal Oak to Five Lakes permanently. He was also a proud member of the Clare Farwell American Legion Post 558. Ray loved to go hunting (especially U.P. trips in his younger years), fishing, and spending time with family. Ray also loved to travel, having taken trips to Russia, South America, and Alaska. He will be greatly missed by his family. Ray is survived by his wife Irina of Farwell, his children Loren (Christopher) Cusack of Forsyth, IL. And Steven (Candace) Brusseau of Traverse City, and his step-children Natalya Allahverdiyva and Oleg (Liubov) Verdi, both of Oak Park, MI. Other survivors of Ray’s include his grandchildren Jacob, Noah, Lindsey, Jessica, Aiden, Ruslan, and Max, his sister Carole (Charles) Brandt of Highland, MI., his brother-in-law John Shaughnessy of St. Clair Shores, MI., his sister-in-law Lyudmila (Ken) Sharmazanov of Waterford, MI., and several cousins. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Marian Brusseau and his sister Judy Shaughnessy. Visitation and Funeral Service’s in honor of Ray will take place on Friday, June 22, 2018. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. with the service at 4:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Chaplain Daryl Amrozowicz officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday, June 23 at 2:00 P.M. in the Acacia Park Cemetery of Beverly Hills, MI. Memorial contributions in honor of Ray are recommended to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.
