Lillian R. Haggart

Lillian R. Haggart (Wilkinson), age 86 of Farwell, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at the Woodland Hospice House of Mt. Pleasant, with family by her side. On January 22, 1937, Lillian was born to Luther “Raymond” and Lillian (Green) Wilkinson at their family home in Farwell, Michigan—the community in which she lived her entire life and was a proud graduate of the Farwell High School class of 1955. In the same year she graduated, Lillian was united in marriage to Fredrick W. Haggart on October 8, 1955, and they enjoyed just over sixty-three years of marriage together until the time of Fred’s passing in January of 2019. Although Lillian’s primary focus throughout her working years was tending to her home and family, she always enjoyed a “hobby job” and many may remember her time serving in the Farwell Public Schools either assisting in the cafeteria or as a teacher’s aide, or working at the Mill End Store. Lillian’s passions included watching Wagon Train and other westerns with Fred, and cuddling her rescued, French Bulldog, Sophie. However, those that knew Lillian best, knew that her most cherished time was that spent tending to her flower gardens and watching and feeding her birds that would visit. Lillian is survived by her daughters Sheila (Mike) Moore of Farwell and Karen (Daron) Shoesmith of Shepherd and her grandchildren Matt (Brittany) Shoesmith, Alyssa Shoesmith, Tonya Turner, Chris Moore, and Korey Kennedy. Other survivors include her great-grandchildren Olivia, Taelynn, Brayden, Taye, Noah, Jackson, and McKenzie and her brothers Ron (Helene) and Don (Louisa) Wilkinson. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Fred Haggart, her parents Luther and Lillian Wilkinson, and her brother Garry Wilkinson. A graveside service will take place to honor Lillian on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the Cherry Grove Cemetery of Clare at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor Jeremiah Ketchum officiating. A time of visitation for Lillian will also be held Thursday the 23rd from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
