Lena Elizabeth Moore

Lena Elizabeth Moore, at age 92 years young was welcomed home by her loving Lord and reunited with her late husband, Charles "Charlie" Moore, daughter Linda Dianne Moore and daughter-in-law Jo Ellen Moore on November 13, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family as she peacefully passed in her home in Coleman. Lena was born on December 10, 1919 to parents Harry Myers and Olive Wilhelm in Waterloo, IN, the second child and eldest girl out of six, her siblings including Hugh, Ruth, Ralph, Marion and Beulah. Lena came to Michigan with her family at age 18 after her mother had passed. She met her husband and love of her life, Charles Austin Moore in 1938. They were married on May 31, 1940 and truly enjoyed their life together for 54 years until Charles passed away in 1995 due to cancer. Together, they raised 2 girls and 2 boys (Shirley, Linda, David and William), bred and raised farm animals, grew many, many crops and thoroughly enjoyed the company of family and friends. Lena was a graduate of Ashley High School in Indiana, class of 1937. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church in Coleman, enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, gardening, hard work and being an active volunteer and leader in 4-H programs in Isabella County. Lena very dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she was blessed with. She very much loved God and was a great woman of not only faith, but also of hope. She had touched countless lives with unconditional love over the years and that is her true legacy. Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Austin Moore, daughter Linda Dianne Moore, sisters Ruth Moore and Beulah June and brothers Hugh and Ralph Myers. She is survived by her sons David (Linda G.) Moore of Coleman and William Jensen of Mt. Pleasant; her daughter Shirley (William) Brewer of Jackson, MS; grandchildren Will (Kim) Brewer of Jackson, MS, Molly (Cliff) Case of Athens, John (Lindsey) Moore of Clare, Robin (Joel) Gold of Coleman, Josh Moore of Coleman, Christina Berry of Beaverton; great grandchildren Justin Brewer of WA, Jeffrey (Dawn) Brewer of TX, Lena Claire Brewer and Sierra Shirley Brewer of Jackson, MS, Lena Elizabeth Berry of Beaverton and Sarah Jo Ann Case of Athens; great great grandchildren Timothy Brewer and Abby Brewer of TX. Visitation for Lena will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. and on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Services will take place on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Faith United Methodist Church in Coleman with Rev. Caroline Hart officiating. Burial will be in the River Lawn Cemetery.
