June E. Foell

June E. (Mitchell) Foell, age 92 of Clare, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021 surrounded by her family. On June 29, 1928, June was born the daughter of Maurice and Dora (Zeis) Mitchell in Lansing, MI. She was united in marriage to Gordon A. “Corky” Foell on August 26, 1949 in Clare, MI. and the pair enjoyed fifty-two years of marriage together until the time of Corky’s passing in February of 2002. Shortly after June’s graduation from Lansing Eastern High School, June’s family moved their photography business to Clare, where June eventually met Corky, and established her roots for her remaining years. Her working career began briefly with Clare’s Holley Carburetor shop, then as equally briefly she cleaned homes professionally, before she began her over twenty-year career working as Dr. Ballard’s office nurse and manager in Clare. June’s passions included her love of oil painting, tending to her yard and flower gardens, wintering in Arizona, and most importantly, her devotion to her church family and friends at the First Baptist Church of Clare—where she has been a lifetime member, Sunday school teacher, and volunteer. June is survived by her two children Linda (Larry) Witbeck of Clare and Gary Foell of Glenwood Springs, CO. and her grandchildren Christopher (Sandra) Lewis, Thomas “T.J.” (Tessa) Lewis, and Ken (Amy) Witbeck. Other survivors include her great-grandchildren Hunter, Cody, Andrew, Suzy, Hugh, Natalie, and Jillian. She was preceded death by her husband Gordon Foell, her son Larry Foell, her parents Maurice and Dora Mitchell, and her brother Erwin Mitchell. A funeral service in honor of June will take place at the First Baptist Church of Clare on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Doug Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery of Clare. Visitation for June will take place on Wednesday, June, 30, 2021 at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in honor of June may be directed toward the Clare First Baptist Church, The Springs Ministries Camp, or to the Gideons International.
