Jerry Doyle Crysler

Jerry D. Crysler, age 78 of Clare, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 with his family by his side. Jerry was born the eldest of three boys to Lyman and Agnes (Blaine) Crysler in Detroit on July 21, 1941. On January 23, 1967, Jerry was united in marriage to Barbara Cowan in Wisconsin, and the couple enjoyed fifty years of marriage until the time of Barbara’s passing on February 12, 2017. Jerry and Barbara located permanently to the Clare area in 1974 and Jerry began his twenty-five years of employment for the maintenance department of MidMichigan Community College, having retired in the late 1990’s. Jerry was a graduate of Brighton High School and a proud member of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed hunting and managing his personal farm that included raising cows, pigs, chickens, and rabbits. He was also a faithful Lions and Tigers fan, but all of those passions took a backseat to chess—reaching the level of grandmaster and being published in Chess Magazine for his “signature move”. Jerry is survived by his three children Sherry (David Scott) Dandron of Lake, Betsy (Jeff) Bordelon of LaPlace, LA., and Jerry J. (Veronica) Crysler of Clare. Other survivors include his six grandchildren Kent and Chad Dandron, Daniel and Amanda Bordelon, C.J. Fiedler, and J.J. Crysler, and his two great-grandchildren Lauren and Baylee Dandron. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents Lyman and Agnes Crysler, his grandson Christopher Bordelon, and his younger twin brothers Darryl and Dallas Crysler. A memorial service in honor of Jerry will take place on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Chaplain Daryl Amrozowicz officiating. Friends may visit with the Crysler family at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 noon to the time of service at 2:00 P.M. with military honors following. Memorial contributions in honor of Jerry may be directed to either the American Cancer Society or to Heartland Hospice.
