Helen F. Pudvay

Helen Fern Pudvay, age 88, of Midland, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Life Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born the daughter of Robert Stephen and Emily Fern (House) Archambault on May 25, 1934, in Clare. She married Edward LeRoy Pudvay, who preceded her in death on July 9, 2012. Helen and Edward moved to Midland, then Wixom Lake, and then to Houghton Lake when Edward retired after 40+ years at The Dow Chemical Company. They had lived in Houghton Lake for 17 years and then moved back to Midland. After Edward's passing, Helen enjoyed travelling back and forth between Colorado to visit with her daughter, Rebecca S. Killam and Don Derby, and in Michigan with her son, Stephen L. and his wife Linda (Huntley) Pudvay. Helen enjoyed gardening, sewing/knitting/crocheting, painting, cake decorating, camping, hunting, and spending weekends with Edward at their cabin near Lovells, MI, and fishing on the North Branch of the Au Sable River that ran through their property. She loved music and dancing with Edward. Her greatest joys in life were her two children, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, who brought so much joy to her life along with tremendous love & laughter. Helen is survived by her children, Stephen and Linda Pudvay of Midland and Rebecca Killam of Colorado, and her sister MaryLou Phillips of Clare. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Keeley, Angelina and Justin, Kurt and Brianne, Jessica and Matt, James and Shayla, Margaret and James, and Charlotte and Christian, and also her great grandchildren, Elyana, Danika, Clara, Noah, Kieran, Carter, Cooper, Kamdyn, Kaedyn, Kylar, Kentleigh and Kynsleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward L. Pudvay, and sister Esther Skyring. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 AM from the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with pastor Connie Bongard of the Clare Congregational Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery. Friends may meet with her family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-to-4 and 6-to-8 PM.
