Esther Mae Randle

Esther M. Randle, age 90 of Clare, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Pioneer Golden Estates in Clare. Esther was born the daughter of the late Ray and Hilda (Armentrout) Strouse on June 9, 1935 in Clare. She was united in marriage to William D. Randle on October 2, 1954 with him predeceasing her on April 11, 2023. Esther has worked as a waitress and on the assembly lines at factories. Her most cherished job was as she called herself – A Domestic Goddess. She kept her home immaculate and cleaned homes for others until she was 83. Her family was very important to her; she loved to support them in sports and whatever else they were doing. She was still swinging a baseball bat and hitting balls herself at the age of 89. Esther liked to stay active walking and riding her bicycle. Her relationship with God was extremely important to her. Over the years, she prayed for and counseled many people. She would often remind people that she was the longest living member of the Clare Church of the Nazarene, where she taught Sunday School, supported missions and welcomed new visitors to her church with a fresh pie. Esther loved camping and looking for bargains at garage sales. She always wanted to go somewhere, often nowhere in particular, but just go for the adventure. She liked to entertain people by fixing fish fry dinners for family and friends with the bluegill that her husband liked to catch. Esther is survived by her three children, Brenda (Jerry) Eberhart of Clare, Kevin Randle of Sedona, AZ and David (Dawn) Randle of Ocala, FL; her grandchildren Amber Layfield, Autumn Layfield, Eric Layfield, Jeff Layfield, Tanya Randle, Janel Randle, Jason Randle, Logan Randle, Lucas Randle and Shelby Randle; 20 great grandchildren; her siblings Leonard Strouse of Clare and Marleen (Ron) Root of Clermont, FL. Esther was predeceased by her sister Annabelle (Dean) VanderVeen; her brother Charles (Jeanette) Strouse; an infant brother; her sister-in-law Delite Strouse and in-laws Leslie and Edith Randle, Irene and Chuck Koontz, Ralph and Naomi Randle, Norman and Leona Randle, Robert and Jackie Randle, Ruth and Vernell Carey and Betty and Tom Bennett. Visitation and services will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at 11:30 A.M. led by Pastor Tim Fall. A luncheon will follow the services at the church with burial to take place at 2:30 P.M. in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorial contributions may be made to MyMichigan Hospice or the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Arrangements were handled by the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home.
