David A. Keifer

David Allen Keifer, age 65, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Farwell, MI. David was born on December 30, 1955, to Virgil L. and Elaine M. (Boney) Keifer; he was a 1974 graduate of Comstock High School. He was employed at Upjohn… Pharmacia and Upjohn… Pharmacia… Pfizer for 35 years as a chemical operator and retired in 2014. We understand that with David’s retirement they no longer have anyone passing out mints. David is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 42 years Tina Louise (Aube) Keifer of Farwell. Daughters; Emily (Brian) Gates of Kalamazoo and Jennifer Glaser-Price of Vicksburg. Grandchildren; Olivia Gates and Lauren Gates both of Kalamazoo, Savanna Glaser of Kalamazoo, Delaney Glaser and Raymond Glaser both of Vicksburg. He is also survived by his parents Virgil L. and Elaine M. (Boney) Keifer of Kalamazoo, Siblings Diana Payne, Linda McNett, and Ronald Keifer all of Kalamazoo, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Karen Keifer. David, who was also referred to as “Mr. Wonderful”, enjoyed vacationing anywhere from Mexico to Alaska and in recent years wintered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. David was always a wealth of what we like to refer to as “useless information” which could be regarding any subject. He could tell you how to remove the door panel on an ’89 Ford Probe (which he had never owned), tell you names of plants from all over the world, explain how to get pepper out of the shaker (by rubbing the bottoms of the salt and pepper shakers together… and yes we know you are going to try it); anytime you didn’t know something, ANYTHING, the answer was always “let’s ask Dave/Dad”. David was a VIP customer at Big Lots and Tuesday Morning and always found all the best deals. He was sure to tell anyone that may need something about them both. This guaranteed that he always had all the random little things that you could possibly need, just in case. David was a great card player, he played euchre for years although most recently he focused on “Sevens” with the Snow Birds (his peeps) in Myrtle Beach. His “Yella Umbrella” peeps would tell you that he ran around fixing computers, organizing card parties, and cooking up special treats for potluck nights. One friend said she will forever picture him in a HEAVEN STAFF t-shirt. David has always had a strong love of music, he knew the words to uncountable numbers of songs by heart, singing in the car to the oldies, country music or even without music. After he retired, he practically never turned his music off and upgraded to bigger and better sound equipment. The doctors, nurses, and other staff at the University of Michigan Hospital would often come in to his room to listen, sing, or dance to his music. David was an amazing father, involved in anything that had to do with his girls, never one to shy away from the “girl stuff”, whatever that may be. Later when he was upgraded to “Grumpa” he stepped up yet again and was there for anything and everything the “grands” could want or need. He was an amazing nail polisher and perm roller; steadiest hand around. Pony tails could last for days, as long as you could get past the headache. To put it simply, David was the type of man that got along with most everyone and many considered him a friend. A Celebration of Life will be held at “The Swimming Hole” (815 E. Ludington Dr. Farwell, MI 48622) on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1pm. Luncheon to follow.
