In Loving Memory of Daniel J. White Daniel J. White, age 78, of Clare, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the North Woods Nursing Center in Farwell, surrounded by love and memories that spanned a lifetime. Born on February 27, 1947, in Clare to the late Erwin and Mary (Sutkey) White, Daniel lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep curiosity, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. A proud veteran, Daniel served his country with honor in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from August 1965 to January 1969. On October 23, 1971, he married the love of his life, Laura “Jennene” Maynard, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring love. Daniel dedicated over 30 years to the Clare County Road Commission as a Purchasing Agent, where his integrity and diligence earned the respect of all who worked alongside him. Outside of work, he was a man of intellect and gentle spirit—an avid follower of politics and current events, and a naturalist at heart who could name every tree, bird, and flower with ease and wonder. Among the many joys in Daniel’s life was his faithful dog, Milo, who rarely left his side. Milo was more than a pet—he was a steadfast companion, a quiet comfort, and a reflection of Daniel’s own loyalty and kindness. Their bond was a beautiful testament to the simple, enduring love that defines a life well lived. Daniel is survived by his beloved wife Jennene; his children Brian White of Beaverton and Rachelle (Dan) Graham of Clio; his brother William (Bonnie) White of Clare; and his cherished grandchildren Luke and Ryan White, Jackie Sutkey, Chris Graham, and Alex Smith. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward. He was preceded in death by his brother Erwin White, Jr., and sisters Lois Meier, June White, and Pearl White. Visitation and services will be held at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home on Monday, August 25, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. with services at 1 P.M., officiated by Pastor Joseph Andrist. In honor of Daniel’s life and legacy, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Daniel’s gentle wisdom, quiet humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed—but never forgotten. He walks now among the trees he knew so well.
