Betty Lou Vogel

Betty Lou Vogel died at home March 4, 2013 after a valiant struggle with lung cancer. Betty was born to Minnie (Watson) and Emmett Dart on May 27, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. Betty wed Edward Vogel on April 29, 1950. They spent their entire married life in the Central Michigan area. Betty enjoyed making a home for her family. She loved cooking, gardening and was exceptional at baking. No special occasion was complete without some of her delicious pies. Family was very important to Betty and while she enjoyed raising her children, she took special delight in her grandchildren and felt particularly blessed when her great-grandchildren came along. Betty is survived by her devoted husband Edward, her daughter Roxanne (Richard) Rowley of Manistee, Michigan; sons Paul (Erma) Vogel and Charles (Vicky Kitchen) Vogel of Coleman, Michigan; and her sons in Wasilla, Alaska, Pat (Robin) Vogel and Tim Vogel. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Rhonda (Adam) Greene, Ryan Rowley, Regina (Richard) Miller, Gavin (Marilyn) Vogel, Chuck Vogel, Adam Vogel, Michael (Bridget) Vogel, Christopher Vogel, and Aaron Vogel. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Kable, Gage and Lane Miller; Tyler and Nick Vogel; Cole Vogel, Jaxon Vogel and Lily Vogel. In addition Betty is survived by her brother, John (Kim) Dart, many nieces and nephews and a special kitty, Maddie. Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Joanne and Michael Dart and Delores Shepard, and a son, Michael Vogel. Special thanks to the thoughtful and compassionate caregivers at Woodland Hospice. And thanks also to The Isabella County Commission on Aging. Donations in memory of Betty Lou Vogel can be made to either of these worthy organizations. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10 AM at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Clare with Fr. Bill Rutkowski officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Henry's Cemetery, Rosebush, Michigan.
