Becky Jean Murphy

On June 17, 2019, Becky Jean Murphy untied her boat from the dock for an eternal “tool around the lake.” Her sudden and untimely departure comes as a shock after surviving an unprecedented storm over the past three years. Although she wasn’t able to have any of her own children, she was instrumental in raising her Brother, Sister, Niece and their children – who seem to have turned out pretty well. She was fiercely protective of her “kids” and nothing brought her more joy than to have a hands-on role in their daily lives. Becky is defined by her relentless devotion to her “kids,” their friends, their friends friends, her friends, her friends friends and anyone else that didn’t find themselves on her bad side (may God have mercy on your soul.) With a tough exterior and a tender heart, “Buck’s” selfless nature, with an ability to step in and handle any crisis, will forever be unparalleled and was beyond reproach. “Rebecca Jean the Pharmacy Queen” proudly worked as a Pharmacy Technician for MidMichigan Medical Center - Clare for 30 years and put away her scrubs in 2010. She had a reputation for hunting you down if you screwed up the EMS boxes, patient med cart, inventory and narc counts. Although short in stature, she was not short on giving marching orders. Her leadership and dedication to those around her was demonstrated by her countless years as the chair for the annual employee picnic. Becky, with eyes that served as warning labels, awful hand-writing, an excessive loon collection and an unforgettable laugh, was a one-of-a-kind, mouthy rebel with zero fear to bust-a-move the second a good tune hit her ears. Becky is preceded in death by her father Eugene (1986) and mother Sally (2016.) Becky is survived by her sister Amy Teddy (David), brother William “Bj” Murphy (Erin), niece Allison Hubbard (Tyler), nephews Rylan and Kellin Teddy, Chase and Charlie Murphy, great-niece Henley Hubbard, great-nephew Brooks Hubbard, sister-in-law Sheila Murphy, as well as countless friends and family. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20, 2019, 2pm-4pm & 6pm-8pm at Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home (Clare, MI). Additional visitation will be offered on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10am at St. Cecilia (Clare, MI) followed by the funeral at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the “Aunt Becky Legacy Fund” - investing in the futures of her “kids” Rylan, Kellin, Chase, Charlie, Henley & Brooks.
