Arlene D. Mester

Arlene D. (Tucker) Mester, age 70 of Clare, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. On June 15, 1951, Arlene was born one of seven children to Edward and Dorothy (Pedersen) Tucker in Detroit. Arlene lived her entire childhood and younger years in Metro Detroit before moving to Clare immediately following her graduation from Dearborn’s St. Alphonsus Catholic High School in 1969. While working in Clare in 1981, Arlene met the love of her life, Edward E. Mester. Four years later, the couple united in marriage on March 23, 1985 at the St. Cecilia Catholic Church and together they shared over thirty-six wonderful years of marriage. Arlene’s work career always remained local, as many remember her smiling face from her days working at Jay’s Sporting Goods and in the lab department of the Clare Hospital until she began her seventeen-year career working security for the Soaring Eagle Casino—having retired in 2017. Arlene loved sewing and baking cookies (especially around Christmas when she would take orders for fifty dozen or more) and she took her “party planning” role within her family very seriously—whether it was self-appointed or not. However, those that really knew Arlene knew that her grandchildren were the true light of her life. Arlene is survived by her husband Ed Mester of Clare, her children Sarah Mester, Joe (Katie) Mester, and Miranda (Shad) Smith all of Clare, and her cherished grandchildren Laythan, Savannah, Brennan, Maybelline, Mercedes, Maverick, Kenny (Mackenzie), Madison, and Carter. Other survivors include her siblings Eddie (Barb) Tucker of Grass Lake, MI., Richard (Gloria) Tucker of Clare, Alice Meyer of Tustin, MI, and Barb (Dennis) Brown of Clare, her mother-in-law DeeDee Mester of Clare, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Dorothy Tucker, her brothers Jimmy and Kenny Tucker, and her father-in-law Edward G. Mester. Visitation with the Mester family will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home. A funeral service in honor of Arlene will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Brown Corners Church of Clare with Mr. Jim Walter officiating. Burial will follow in the Wise Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Arlene may be directed to the MidMichigan Hospice and Homecare.
